Step 2 - Backup Framework MyNewHome Database

The following topic will backup your Framework MyNewHome (MNH) Database. This procedure is based on Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

CRITICAL

- The 6.3.0 database upgrade process includes an automatic database backup procedure, though some tables may be skipped due to size. Therefore, it is HIGHLY recommended that this procedure is performed.
- This MUST be performed on the server that hosts the Framework MNH database(s).

Backup Framework MNH Database

CRITICAL

This MUST be performed for each Framework MNH database.

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio (Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 > SQL Server Management Studio).
  2. Connect to the required server.
  3. In the Object Explorer pane, expand: [server name] > Databases
  4. Right-click on the Framework MNH database (e.g., FworkSQLMNH) and select Tasks > Back Up. The Back Up Database (General Page) dialog will be displayed.
  5. Specify a Name and Destination for the backup file, if different from the default name and destination details.

Write down the name and destination details.
  6. Select the Options page.
  7. Tick: Overwrite all existing backup sets
  8. Tick: Verify backup when finished
  9. Click the OK button. The backup will be performed to the selected destination.
  10. Click the OK button to close the message prompt.
  11. Close SQL Server Management Studio.
  12. Browse to the backup location (as detailed in Point 5 above).
  13. Copy the backup file to a secure location.

Example

A typical example is to backup the database file (.bak file) to the following folder location: \[fw folder]\Service\fwBackup_[todaysDate]

Step 3 - Upgrade Framework MyNewHome Database

CRITICAL

- This MUST be performed on the server that hosts the Framework MyNewHome (MNH) database.
- The system where the data is being upgraded MUST be set with Australian regional settings.
- The Framework MyNewHome database must have previously been upgraded to v6.3.0. Contact your Framework administrator if you are not running the Framework MyNewHome v6.3.0 database.

The following procedure upgrades the Framework MNH database. If a failure in the Framework MNH Database Upgrade occurs, this could be due to the size of the database which may exceed the backup component limit of 2GBs of data. If the upgrade initially fails during the backup phase, a command line switch can be added to the upgrade executable file which will skip the automated backup process.

If during the upgrade process 'Not Responding' appears in the title bar of the Framework Upgrade software, this is due to the system performing very long and CPU-intensive calculations. This message will disappear once the upgrade has been completed.

Framework MNH 7.0.0 Database Upgrade

This MUST be performed for each Framework MNH database.

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Browse to: \[fw folder]\Upgrade\Upgrade7_0_0_[xx]\MyNewHome\
  3. Double-click the FworkMyNewHomeUpgrade.exe file. The Select Data Source dialog will be displayed.
  4. Select the Machine Data Source tab.
  5. From the Data Source Name column, select the Framework MyNewHome SQL database.

    Example

    FworkSQLMNH
  6. Click OK. The Start Upgrade confirmation prompt will be displayed.
  7. Click Yes to perform the upgrade.

    • The first step in the upgrade procedure will take a backup of the upgraded tables and store the tables in a Microsoft Access database file (backup.mdb). This will be stored under a time-stamped folder indicating the date and time of the upgrade. For example, Backup 20120912_105719. This folder can be deleted once the upgrade has been completed.
  8. If the upgrade was successful, a successfully completed message prompt will be displayed.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Close.

Unsuccessful Database Upgrade

If the database was unsuccessful, restore the backup database file. Refer to your Microsoft SQL Server documentation for more information.
