Understanding Sales Estimation Rounding

Sales estimation rounding is a feature of Framework ECM that can be set to either enable or disable the automatic price rounding for documents. By default, the preferences in Framework ECM are set to round automatically. These preferences round the items up to the nearest one dollar.

Example

If an item is $23.01, it will be rounded up to $24.00

Benefits Of Sales Estimation Rounding

The document rounding functionality is designed to produce a less confusing, round total for the documents created. This benefits the client as they receive an easy to understand, neat round total.

Rounding can also be set for Document Templates. This is useful when importing document templates into Framework Sales Advice Management or printing out a template with an easy to understand, round figure.

What To Do

Requirements

Before making the decision on whether to round or not, consider the way in which the current documents are created. Also take into account whether the claims are rounded when they are invoiced.

Planning

Consult with the accounting department to firstly establish the current rounding method. Once this has been established, the business should discuss and agree on the rounding method to be employed moving forward.

Consider the following:

  • The preferences will round up to the nearest dollar.
  • Rounding is not applied to items in the VPB. Rounding is applied only when the items are used in a document or template.
  • Custom items are not calculated using the quantity figure and must have the total rounded price manually entered. Preferences are not applied to custom items.

Implementation

The following security preferences must be updated for staff to successfully implement rounding.
