Using Logistics Programme Analysis Links

Framework Logistics Desktop has the ability to use logistics programme analysis. These analysis links are made up of key activities chosen from the construction logistics Call Forward Programmes, these key activities can then be used for logistics forecasting. There are also standard slots that can be used to link Logistics Programme dates to the stage start and complete dates that trigger minor stage completions.

Analysis links are selected from the list of activities available within a call forward programme. These key activities can then be used to forecast the completion of a construction programme. Each activity will show a best possible completion date based on the time frame allocated to the call forward programme. A best possible date is the day an activity is estimated to be completed provided it starts on the allocated day and there are no delays during the activity. If the job is delayed then the analysis link activities will factor in those delays and continue to re-calculate the best possible dates, providing the user with an up-to-date representation on when the construction programme is scheduled to be completed.

Once the actual complete date has been entered for each analysis link activity it can then be used to compare the forecast completion date against the actual complete date. These dates can be used as an indication to see how well the progress of a construction programme is progressing, it can also show at what stages or areas the job is falling behind or progressing well.

The key benefits in using logistics programme analysis links are:

  • Ability to easily view the forecast completion date of a construction programme.
  • Being able to view what stage the job is currently at.
  • At what stages a programme is being delayed or running ahead of schedule.
  • Forecast dates re-calculated based on actual complete dates or delay periods.
  • Ability to auto-populate minor cast claim dates as seen on the Framework Cst Overview (which then automatically raise Cst Claims)

Before being able to select logistics programme analysis links, call forward programmes must be created and implemented in Framework Logistics Desktop. Once all call forwards have been created and finalised the analysis links can then be created using the key activities from the call forward programme.

Before selecting the logistics analysis links, it is recommend that all Call Forward Programmes be reviewed by the appropriate staff member. Once a programme is assigned to a job, it cannot be changed.

When selecting the analysis links, ensure you select activities that are seen to be major steps in the construction programme as these activities will be used for the forecast dates. They should be selected from the complete range of activities available in the programme and each selected analysis link should provide a good indication of what stage the job is currently at and how it is progressing.

The programme analysis links are implemented in Framework Logistics Desktop.

Opening The Programme Analysis Screen

  • From the Administration menu, select Programme Analysis.

The template programme creates analysis links which are used for triggers and reporting. Adding an activity to a slot creates a link between the information provided for that activity in a job, and a reports or programme trigger. Note: Slots 70 to 100 are shown on the Construction Overview screen and Construction Chart Reporting. If you choose to use less than the 30 analysis slots the last activity used must also be duplicated in slot 100.

On the Programme Analysis screen:

  1. From the Programme drop-down list, select the required logistics programme.
  2. Select the required slot number for the activity.
  3. Click Edit. The Analysis Item dialog will be displayed.
  4. Click the Cst. Logistics Tpl. Item popup dialog button. The Select Template Item dialog will be displayed.
    • Select the required template item.
    • Click OK. The dialog will close.
  5. Click OK.

Once the changes to the Programme Analysis are finalised for a Programme it may be necessary to roll the changes out to the jobs where the Programme has been allocated. This is achieved by using the Update Jobs button.

On the Programme Analysis screen:

  1. From the Programme drop-down list, select the required logistics programme.
  2. Click Update Jobs. The Update Construction Logistics Analysis Programme prompt will appear.
  3. Click Yes to update jobs.
  4. Click OK.

The Logistics Template Analysis Slots (Slot 50-54; Slot 69) can be used to auto-populate the Cst claim dates from when the corresponding logistics activities are completed (see table below)

In Framework Logistics Desktop (Analysis Slot screen) - for each Logistics Template, simply select the corresponding logistics activity in the following analysis slots to allow auto-population of the Cst Overview dates listed below

Analysis Slot #Framework Cst Claim date
0-50Unused
50Base
51Frame
52Lockup
53Fix
54PCI
69Cst Complete
70-99Cst Overview Activity List
100Cst Overview Last Activity

It is important that when a new Logistics Programme is being created, consideration is given to the Analysis Links so that once the new programme is applied to a job, the information collected is being properly utilised.
