Non-Domain Network Installation - Client

The client (or client workstation) installation requires the overarching The Finance Shop software as well as network drive configurations and connections to the server.

The following guide is designed to upgrade the The Finance Shop Product Suite software on a client workstation.

 

Step 1 - Map Network Drive

Allow access to the server's mapped The Finance Shop drive.

Important: 
- It is recommended that a mapped drive be added to the network login script.
- If a mapped network drive is already available to the shared The Finance Shop drive, proceed to Step 2 - Install Microsoft SQL Native Client.

Procedures

Mapping A Network Drive

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. From the Tools menu, select Map Network Drive.... The Map Network Drive dialog appears.

Note:  In Microsoft Windows Vista or above, if the Tools menu is not visible, press the Alt key.

  1. Using the drop-down menu, select the required drive letter.

Note: The selected drive letter should be the same for all systems (typically T:\).

  1. Click the Browse... button. The Browse For Folder dialog is displayed.

  2. Browse to the [server name] and select the shared folder TheFinanceShop.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Tick: Reconnect at logon

  5. Click Finish.

 

Step 2 - Install Microsoft SQL Native Client

Installs the native client for Microsoft SQL Server 2008. This driver allows the client workstation to connect to the Microsoft SQL Server.

Important: If Microsoft SQL Native Client is already installed, proceed to Step 3 - ODBC DSN Configuration. If unsure, re-install the software.

Procedures

Installing Microsoft SQL Native Client

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. Browse to \[tfs folder]\Setup\Database - MSSQL 2008\Microsoft - SQL Server Native Client Driver\

  3. Double-click the relevant setup file. The Microsoft SQL Server Native Client Setup Wizard will begin.

  4. Click the Next button. The Licence Agreement dialog will be displayed.

  5. Select I accept the terms in the licence agreement.

  6. Click the Next button. The Registration Information dialog will be displayed.

  7. Enter the registration details.

  8. Click the Next button. The Feature Selection dialog will be displayed.

  9. Click the Next button. The Ready To Install the Program dialog will be displayed.

  10. Click the Install button to begin the installation.

  11. Click the Finish button to complete the installation.

Step 3 - ODBC DSN Configuration

Provides The Finance Shop with instructions to read and write from the database.

Critical: Microsoft Windows 64-Bit Operating Systems include two executable files to open ODBC Data Source Administrator. To connect to The Finance Shop, please use the secondary location listed below: 

  • Main Location: \\%SystemRoot%\system32\odbcad32.exe is used to create and maintain data source names for 64-bit applications.

  • Secondary Location: \\%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe is used to create and maintain data source names for 32-bit applications, including 32-bit applications that run on 64-bit operating systems.

Critical: Microsoft Windows 64-Bit Operating Systems include two executable files to open ODBC Data Source Administrator. To connect to The Finance Shop, please use the secondary location listed below:

Procedures

Configuring The Finance Shop ODBC DSN

  1. Open Data Sources (ODBC).

  2. Select the System DSN tab.

  3. Click the Add button. The Create New Data Source dialog will be displayed.

  4. Select SQL Server Native Client.

  5. Click Finish. The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server dialog will be displayed.

  6. Enter the following details: 

    • Name: TFSMain

    • Description (optional): Enter a description for the database connection.

    • Server: Select the SQL server from the drop down list.

Note: If there is an error following Step 8, change the server name above to: \[server name]\SQLEXPRESS


  1. Click Next.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Tick Change the default database to.

  4. From the drop-down list select: TFSMain

  5. Click Next.

  6. Click Finish. The ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup dialog will be displayed.

  7. Click Test Data Source....

  8. If successful, click OK.

  9. Click OK. The ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup dialog will close.

  10. Click OK. The Data Sources (ODBC) dialog will close.

 

Step 4 - Install Core Components

Installs a set of common software tools used by The Finance Shop.

Note: If installing on Microsoft Windows Vista or above, the User Account Control (UAC) Consent prompt may be displayed during the installation.

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. Browse to: \[tfs folder]\Setup\Core Components\v15.0\

  3. Double-click setup.exe. The Core Components Welcome dialog will be displayed.

  4. Click Next. The Licence Agreement dialog will be displayed.

  5. Select I accept the terms in the licence agreement.

  6. Click Next . The Customer Information dialog will be displayed.

  7. Enter User Name and Organisation details.

  8. Select Anyone who uses this computer (all users).

  9. Click Next. The Setup Type dialog will be displayed.

  10. Select Complete.

  11. Click Next . The Ready To Install the Program dialog will be displayed.

  12. Click Install to begin the installation.

  13. Click Finish to complete the installation.

 

Step 5 - Install The Finance Shop

  2. Browse to \[tfs folder]\Setup\The Finance Shop\The Finance Shop 11.0.x\Setup\

  3. Double-click TheFinanceShop 11.0.89xx (ASA 3.8.9).msi. The The Finance Shop installation process will begin.

  4. Click Next. The TFS Licence Agreement dialog will be displayed.

  5. Select I accept the terms in the licence agreement.

  6. Click Next. The Customer Information dialog will be displayed.

  7. Enter User Name and Organisation details.

  8. Select Anyone who uses this computer (all users).

  9. Click Next. The Setup Type dialog will be displayed.

  10. Select Complete.

  11. Click Next. The Ready To Install the Program dialog will be displayed.

  12. Click Install to begin the installation.

  13. Click Finish to complete the installation.

 

Step 6 - Configure The Sentinel Hardware Licence Key

Configures the Sentinel Hardware Licence Key.

Important: Proceed only if: 
TFS was NOT installed on the server. 
AND 
This is the FIRST client installation of The Finance Shop.

Configuring The Finance Shop Administration Tool

  1. Open The Finance Shop Administration (Start > All Programs > Insula Software > TFS Administration). TheSecurity Log On dialog will be displayed.

  2. Log on to the system using the Username and Password supplied on the Software Licence Certificate.

  3. From the Administration menu, select Sentinel Key. The Sentinel Hardware Security Key dialog will be displayed.



     

  4. Enter the following information:

    • Key Code: Provided by Insula Software.

    • Database Server Name: Server/workstation name that hosts the The Finance Shop database.

    • Database DSN: The licence database name stored in the licence database. Typically TFSMain.

    • SSPro Server Name: Server/workstation name that hosts the Sentinel Hardware Licence Key. Typically this is the same as the Database Server Name.

  5. Under the License System heading: 

    • Licence System DSN: TFSMain

  6. Click Refresh. The yellow coloured fields will populate.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Close the Sentinel Hardware Security Key window.

  9. Exit the The Finance Shop Administration Tool.

 

Step 7 - The Finance Shop System Configuration

Important: Proceed only if: 
TFS was NOT installed on the server. 
AND 
This is the FIRST client installation of The Finance Shop.

Configuring The Finance Shop

  1. Open The Finance Shop (Start > All Programs > Insula Software > The Finance Shop).

  2. Log on to the system using the Username and Password supplied on the Software Licence Certificate.

  3. From the Help menu, select Configuration. The System Configuration dialog will be displayed. The following image displays the default settings.





  4. In the Database column, confirm that the Drive and Folder locations are correct. If the TFS files were installed to a different location, modify them using the Browse buttons.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Restart The Finance Shop.

 

Step 8 - Test The Finance Shop

Testing the The Finance Shop installation to ensure it has installed and connects to the database correctly.

Important: This step is ONLY required if Step 7 - The Finance Shop System Configuration was skipped.

Staring The Finance Shop

  1. Start The Finance Shop (Start > All Programs > Insula Software > The Finance Shop).

    Tip: Double-click the The Finance Shop desktop icon.
     

  2. Log on to the system.

 

Step 9 - User Acceptance Tests

The following is a list of view only tests that should be performed after installing the application.

Note: These tests should be performed after the first installation of The Finance Shop.
