Installation Environment Setup Checklist

The following topics should be performed on the day (or the evening prior to) the install of theThe Finance Shop Product Suite.

The topics contain information for internal IT staff responsible for the deployment of the The Finance Shop Product Suite and its integration into internal systems and business processes.

Step 1 - Implement The Finance Shop Files

On the system that contains the [tfs folder]:

Insert the The Finance Shop Software Upgrade USB into the USB drive. Note: If Autorun is enabled, the TFS Upgrade PDF document will automatically open.

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Browse to: USB Drive (typically the E:\ Drive).
  3. Right-click on the TheFinanceShop folder and select Copy.
  4. Browse to the mapped The Finance Shop folder (Typically the T:\ Drive). The following image is a typical example of TheFinanceShop folder.



  5. From the Folders pane (top arrow), right-click the T:\ folder (bottom arrow) and select Paste. The file copy will commence.

Note: During the file copy the following dialogs may be displayed: Confirm File ReplaceConfirm Folder ReplaceConfirm File Replace (Read Only). When displayed, click Yes To All to replace all files and folders.


Step 2 - Download Latest Version

Download the latest version of the The Finance Shop Product Suite. This is performed via:

Note: If the same version exists on both the The Finance Shop USB and the FTP site, please skip this process.

After downloading the latest version of the application, the files should be extracted and stored in the following folder location:

  • \\[tfs folder]\Setup\The Finance Shop\[TFS Version Number]\


Step 3 - Configure Folder And File Permissions

The TFS folders (see TFS Folders) require different access permissions depending on the folder. The following table displays the list of The Finance Shop folders and the network permissions required for each. Network permissions are rules associated with a shared resource on a network, such as a file, folder, or printer. These permissions can be assigned to groups, global groups, or individual users.

The available Microsoft Windows folder security permissions include: 

  • Full Control
  • Modify
  • Read & Execute
  • List Folder Contents
  • Read
  • Write
  • Special Permissions

Step 4 - Disable Scheduled Tasks

Disable any scheduled tasks that may interfere with The Finance Shop Product Suite installation process, such as: 

  • Server Backups
  • Automatic Server Restarts
  • Microsoft SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS)
  • Crystal Reports Server
  • Systems Integration
