Standalone Workstation Installation
The following guide is designed to upgrade The Finance Shop Product Suite software and database on a standalone workstation. The Standalone Workstation environment is designed for a single computer system that will store all of the software and hardware required to use The Finance Shop Product Suite.
Important: The server installation MUST only be performed once.
Step 1 - Implement The Finance Shop Files
This step assists in copying the The Finance Shop files from the The Finance Shop Installation USB to the system.
Procedures
Creating And Mapping The The Finance Shop Folder
On the server:
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to the location where the The Finance Shop files and database will be stored (typically C:\).
- Create a new folder in the C:\ drive with the name: TheFinanceShop
- Right-click on the TheFinanceShop folder and click Sharing and Security. The TheFinanceShop Properties dialog will be displayed.
- Tick: Share This Folder
- Click the Permissions button. The Permissions for TheFinanceShop dialog will be displayed.
- Edit the permissions, if required (for example, change the share to allow users full control of the folder).
- Click OK.
- Click OK. The shared folder is now available.
- From the Tools menu, select Map Network Drive. The Map Network Drive dialog will be displayed.
- From the Drive drop-down list, select an appropriate drive letter (typically T:\)
- From the Folder field, click the Browse button. The Browse For Folder dialog will be displayed.
- Browse to the location of the shared folder (typically \[server_name]\TheFinanceShop).
- Click Finish. A new mapped network will now be accessible to all users with access.
Copying The USB Files To The Finance Shop Folder
On the server:
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to: USB Drive (typically the E:\ Drive).
- Right-click on the TheFinanceShop folder and select Copy.
- Browse to the TFS folder on the server (Typically the C:\TheFinanceShop\ drive). The following image is a typical example of the TFS folder.
- From the Folders pane (top arrow), right-click the C:\TheFinanceShop\ folder (bottom arrow) and select Paste. The file copy will commence.
Important: It is important to review the The Finance Shop folder permissions after the file copy to ensure they meet your company's security standards.
After the file copy, the folder structure should look like:

Step 2 - Install Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5
Installs Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5. Refer to the Microsoft Windows Installer homepage for more information.
Important: This step is not required if installing on Microsoft Windows 7 or above.
Procedures
Installing Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to: \[tfs folder]\Setup\Database - MSSQL 2008\Microsoft - Windows Installer 4.5\
- Double-click the relevant setup file. The Software Update Installation Wizard dialog will be displayed.
- Click Next. The License Agreement dialog will be displayed.
- Select I Agree.
- Click Next. The installation will begin.
- Once the installation is complete, click Finish.
Note: The system may need to be restarted after the installation.
Step 3 - Install Microsoft Powershell 1.0
Installs Microsoft Powershell 1.0. Refer to the Microsoft Powershell homepage for more information.
Important: This step is not required if installing on Microsoft Windows 7 or above.

Installing Microsoft Powershell 1.0
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to: \[tfs folder]\Setup\Database - MSSQL 2008\Microsoft - Powershell 1.0\
- Double click the relevant setup file. The Software Update Installation Wizard dialog will be displayed.
- Click the Next button. The License Agreement dialog will be displayed.
- Select I Agree.
- Click Next. The installation will begin.
- Once the update is complete, click Finish.
Step 4 - Install Microsoft DotNet 3.5
Installs Microsoft DotNet 3.5. Refer to the Microsoft DotNet homepage for more information.
Important: This step is not required if installing on Microsoft Windows 7 or above.

Installing Microsoft DotNet 3.5
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 requires Dot Net 3.5 SP1 to be installed.
Important: For Microsoft Windows 64-Bit Operating Systems, users must run Microsoft Windows Update to install Microsoft Dot Net 3.5 SP1.
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to: \[tfs folder]\Setup\Database - MSSQL 2008\Microsoft - Dot Net Framework 3.5 SP1\
- Double-click the relevant setup file. The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Setup dialog will be displayed.
- Check I have read and ACCEPT the terms of the Licence Agreement.
- Click the Install button. The installation process will begin.
- Once the setup is complete, click Exit.
Note: The computer may need to be restarted after the installation.
Step 5 - Install Microsoft SQL Server 2008
Installs Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (MSSQL) on a server. Refer to the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 home page for more information about this product.
Important: If Microsoft SQL Server 2008 is already installed, proceed to Step 7 - Restore Database.
Due to the range of versions and platforms available for Microsoft SQL Server 2008, the following instructions are based on the 32-bit Express Edition (with Advanced Services) of MSSQL. Your IT Support team can use this as a guide to installing other editions and platforms.

Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2008
Important:
- Prior to installing Microsoft SQL Server 2008, run Microsoft Windows Update to get the latest hot fixes for the previous Microsoft installations.
- This version is the Express Edition with Advanced Services.
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to: \[tfs folder]\Setup\Database - MSSQL 2008\Microsoft - SQL Server 2008 Express - Advanced Services\
- Double click the relevant setup file. The SQL Server Installation Center dialog will be displayed.
- From the sidebar, select Installation.
- Click New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation. The Setup Support Rules dialog will be displayed.
- Click OK. The Product Key dialog will be displayed.
- Click Next. The License Terms dialog will be displayed.
- Tick I accept the license terms.
- Click Next. The Setup Support Files dialog will be displayed.
- Click Install.
- Once the process is complete click Next. The Feature Selections dialog will be displayed.
- Click Select All. All of the features will be selected.
- Click Next. The Instance Configuration dialog will be displayed.
- Select Default instance.
- Click Next. The Disk Space Requirement dialog will be displayed
- Click Next. The Server Configuration dialog will be displayed.
- Select or enter an account name for each service, if required.
- Click Next. The Database Engine Configuration dialog will be displayed.
- Click Add to select users or groups.
OR
Click Add Current User to add the current user only. - Click Next. The Reporting Services Configuration dialog will be displayed.
- Click Next. The Error and Usage Reporting dialog will be displayed.
- Click Next. The Installation Rules dialog will be displayed.
- Click Next. The Ready to Install dialog will be displayed.
- Click Install. The installation progress will begin.
- Once the installation is complete click Next. The Complete dialog will be displayed
- Click Close to complete the installation.
- Close SQL Server Installation Center.
Configuring Microsoft SQL Server 2008 To Allow Remote Connections
Important: This only applies to organisations that:
1. Have installed the Express or Developer Edition of Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
AND
2. Who wish to allow remote connections to the server from a client workstation.
- Open SQL Server Configuration Manager (Start > All Programs > SQL Server 2008 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager).
- Log on to the system.
- Expand: SQL Server Network Configuration > Protocols for MSSQLSERVER
- Enable TCP/IP.
- Enable Named Pipes.
Note: A warning prompt will inform that these changes will not apply until the service is shut down and restarted.
- Restart the SQL Server Service.
Step 6 - Restore Database
Restores the The Finance Shop database.
Tip: The following database restorations are based on Insula Software's recommended settings.
Procedures
Restoring The Finance Shop Database
- Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express (Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008> SQL Server Management Studio).
- Login to Microsoft SQL Server.
- Right-click on Databases and click Restore Database.... The Restore Database dialog will be displayed.
- In the To Database field, enter the TFS Database Name.
Example: TFSMain - In the From Device field, click the Browse button. The Specify Backup dialog will be displayed.
- Click the Add button. The Locate Backup File dialog will be displayed.
- Select the folder and file location of the Microsoft SQL Server backup file.
- Typical Folder: \[tfs folder]\Service\01 - Default Data\
- Typical File: TFSSQL.bak
- Click the OK button. The Locate Backup File dialog will close.
- Click the OK button. The Specify Backup dialog will close.
- In the Restore column, tick the backup to be restored.
- Select the Options tab.
- In the Restore the database file as list, click the TFS Database Name (i.e., TFSMain) Browse button. The Locate Database Files dialog will be displayed.
OR
Use the default file location. - Select the folder location where the database will be restored to.
Example: \[tfs folder]\Data\DataMSSQL\
- In the File Name field, enter the file name: TFSMain.mdf
- Click the OK button.
- In the Restore the database file as list, click the TFS Database Name Log (i.e., TFSMain_log) Browse button. TheLocate Database Files dialog will be displayed.
OR
Use the default file location. - Select the folder location where the database will be restored to.
Example: \[tfs folder]\Data\DataMSSQL\
- In the File Name field, enter the file name: TFSMain_log.ldf
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button. The database restoration will be performed.
- Close Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
Step 7 - Configure Microsoft SQL Server Security

Note: The following server security changes are the minimum requirements to access the TFS database. Read the Microsoft SQL Server documentation for more information on Microsoft SQL Server security.
- Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
- Expand: [Server Name] > Security > Logins
- Right-click the Logins folder and select New Login. The Login - New dialog will be displayed.
- Select the General page.
- Enter a Login Name.
OR
Click the Search button to search for a login.
Example: Domain\Domain Users
- Ensure the selection for the Default Database is: master
- Select the User Mapping page.
- From the Users Mapped to This Login list, tick the required The Finance Shop database. The Database Role Membership For [Selected Database] list will be updated.
- For the The Finance Shop database, ensure that the following two items are ticked:
- db_owner
- public
- Click OK.
Step 8 - ODBC DSN Configuration
Provides The Finance Shop with instructions to read and write from the database.
Important: This step is ONLY required if The Finance Shop is to be installed on the server.
Critical: Microsoft Windows 64-Bit Operating Systems include two executable files to open ODBC Data Source Administrator. To connect to The Finance Shop, please use the secondary location listed below:

Configuring The Finance Shop ODBC DSN
- Open Data Sources (ODBC).
- Select the System DSN tab.
- Click the Add button. The Create New Data Source dialog will be displayed.
- Select SQL Server Native Client.
- Click Finish. The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server dialog will be displayed.
- Enter the following details:
- Name: TFSMain
- Description (optional): Enter a description for the database connection.
- Server: Select the SQL server from the drop down list.
Note: If there is an error following Step 8, change the server name above to: \[server name]\SQLEXPRESS
- Click Next.
- Click Next.
- Tick Change the default database to.
- From the drop-down list select: TFSMain
- Click Next.
- Click Finish. The ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup dialog will be displayed.
- Click Test Data Source....
- If successful, click OK.
- Click OK. The ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup dialog will close.
- Click OK. The Data Sources (ODBC) dialog will close.
Step 9 - Install Core Components
Installs a set of common software tools used by The Finance Shop.

- Open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to: \[tfs folder]\Setup\Core Components\v15.0\
- Double-click setup.exe. The Core Components Welcome dialog will be displayed.
- Click Next. The Licence Agreement dialog will be displayed.
- Select I accept the terms in the licence agreement.
- Click Next . The Customer Information dialog will be displayed.
- Enter User Name and Organisation details.
- Select Anyone who uses this computer (all users).
- Click Next. The Setup Type dialog will be displayed.
- Select Complete.
- Click Next . The Ready To Install the Program dialog will be displayed.
- Click Install to begin the installation.
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
Step 10 - Install The Finance Shop

- Double-click TheFinanceShop 11.0.89xx (ASA 3.8.9).msi. The The Finance Shop installation process will begin.
- Click Next. The TFS Licence Agreement dialog will be displayed.
- Select I accept the terms in the licence agreement.
- Click Next. The Customer Information dialog will be displayed.
- Enter User Name and Organisation details.
- Select Anyone who uses this computer (all users).
- Click Next. The Setup Type dialog will be displayed.
- Select Complete.
- Click Next. The Ready To Install the Program dialog will be displayed.
- Click Install to begin the installation.
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
Step 11 - The Finance Shop System Configuration

Procedures
Configuring The Finance Shop
- Open The Finance Shop (Start > All Programs > Insula Software > The Finance Shop).
- Log on to the system using the Username and Password supplied on the Software Licence Certificate.
- From the Help menu, select Configuration. The System Configuration dialog will be displayed. The following image displays the default settings.
- In the Database column, confirm that the Drive and Folder locations are correct. If the TFS files were installed to a different location, modify them using the Browse buttons.
- Click OK.
- Restart The Finance Shop.
