Framework Upgrade : Environment Setup Checklist

The following topics must be performed on the day (or the evening prior to) the upgrade of the Framework Product Suite.

The topics contain information for internal IT staff responsible for the deployment of the Framework Product Suite and its integration into internal systems and business processes.


Step 1 - Perform System Backup

CRITICAL

A backup of your system MUST be performed in case a rollback is required.


This includes a FULL backup of all Framework SQL databases.

The following folders are required to be backed up before proceeding with ANY Framework Product Suite upgrade.


These folders must be backed up to a secure location.

  • \[fw folder]\Mail Merge\
  • \[fw folder]\Reports\

The location [fw folder] refers to the server location of the Framework files.


Step 2 - Download Latest Versions

Download the latest version of the Framework Product Suite (version 7.1). This is performed via:

After downloading the latest version of the application, the files should be extracted and stored in the following folder location:

  • \\[fw folder]\Setup\[Framework Application]\[Framework Application Version Number]\


Step 3 - Disable Scheduled Tasks

Disable any scheduled tasks that may reference the Framework database, such as: 

  • Server Backups
  • Framework Logistics Tablet Synchronisation
  • Framework Logistics Desktop Subscription Manager
  • Microsoft SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS)
  • Crystal Reports Server
  • Automatic Server Restarts


Step 4 - Disable Systems Integration

Disable any systems integration tasks that may refer to the Framework database(s).

  • Third Party Systems Integration


Step 5 - Synchronise Tablet PCs

CRITICAL

This step is ONLY required if your organisation uses Framework Logistics Tablet.


Perform the following synchronise on ALL Tablet PCs prior to beginning the Framework Product Suite upgrade.

  1. Open Framework Logistics Tablet.
  2. On the Home page, select Synchronise. The Framework Logistics Synchronise (Standard tab) dialog will be displayed.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. From the Select a Profile list, select Daily (full sync) - Construction Data.
  5. From the Synchronise list, tap 1 - 9:

    1. Construction Progress

    2. Notifications, Estimates, WOs

    3. Jobs, POs, Tenders, VOs, Colours

    4. Tablet, Static Data, Entity, Prefs

    5. Keys, Templates, Standard Notes

    6. Company, Product, Land, Diary

    7. Calendar, RMS, Security

    8. Synchronise Job Files

    9. Synchronise Master Files

  6. Tap the Start Synchronise button. The synchronise will be performed. Once successfully completed, the Framework Logistics Synchronise dialog will close.
  7. From the Home page, select Synchronise. The Framework Logistics Synchronise (Standard tab) dialog will be displayed.

  8. Tap the New Jobs Synchronise. The synchronise will be performed. Once successfully completed, the Framework Logistics Synchronise dialog will close.
  9. Close Framework Logistics Tablet.

Step 6 - Disconnect All Users

All users, including any remote users, MUST be logged out of the Framework Product Suite applications.

During the Framework ECM upgrade, administrators are tasked with shutting down access to the Framework Product Suite.

Step 7 - Upgrade The Framework Product Suite

After configuring the environment, you can now proceed with upgrading the Framework Product Suite.
