Framework Integration - Configuration

The configuration of Framework Integration involves instructing the software what to perform and from which systems, databases, etc. This configuration information is stored in a standard Microsoft Windows profile (.ini) file. Each integration job or task is configured in a separate .ini file.

Configuring A New .INI File For Integration

  • Create a copy (in the same folder) of the .ini file for the required integration type.
  • Rename the file so that it is clear what type of integration is being performed and the data that is involved.
  • Edit the file using a text file editor (such as Notepad).
  • Review and change (as required) each profile setting and value in the file to reflect the requirements of your IT infrastructure and software environment.
  • Save the .ini file.

A detailed explanation and typical values for each profile setting can be found in the Integration Profile Configuration topic of this user guide.

It is vital that all settings and values be reviewed, understood, and updated where required so that integration is implemented correctly.

Email Configuration

The email settings in the .ini file control who will be sent a log of completed integration jobs. It is important to ensure the email information is updated so that all staff affected by integration are informed of its progress.

The following outlines an ideal email notification system:

  • Establish an Exchange Server Public Folder (e.g., Framework Integration Archive) with an email address (e.g.,integration@yourcompany.com.au ). This will allow staff (with the correct permissions) to view integration log emails through Microsoft Office Outlook.
  • Identify the people who should receive email logs directly.
  • Utilise the Insula Software integration email address (integrationsupport@insulagroup.com.au). Insula Software will archive integration logs that will be immediately available should any support issues or questions arise.

The email addresses for the items above should be entered into the profile configuration file.

Configuration Review

Insula Software recommends performing a double check of integration profile files to ensure they are complete and correct. This is especially true when implementing integration directly into a production environment.

Insula Software are available to assist in reviewing profile configuration files.
