Framework Installation : Environment Setup Checklist Overview

Article Index

The following environment setup topics should be performed on the day (or the evening prior to) the installation of the Framework Product Suite.

The topics contain information for internal IT staff responsible for the deployment of the Framework Product Suite and its integration into internal systems and business processes.

Step 1 - Download Latest Versions

Download the latest version of the Framework Product Suite. This is performed via:

Insula Software's FTP page: ftp://ftp.insulagroup.com.au/

After downloading the latest version of the application, the files should be extracted and stored in the following folder location:

\\[fw folder]\Setup\[Framework Application]\[Framework Application Version Number]\

Step 2 - Disable Scheduled Tasks

Disable any scheduled tasks that may interfere with the Framework Product Suite installation process, such as:

  • Server Backups

  • Automatic Server Restarts

  • Microsoft SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS)

  • Crystal Reports Server

  • Systems Integration

Step 3 - Implement Framework Product Suite Files

On the system that will contain the Framework folders and files.

If Autorun is enabled, the Framework Installtion PDF document will automatically open

  1. Insert the Framework Product Suite Software Installation USB.

  2. Open Windows Explorer.

  3. Browse to the server that will host the Framework Product Suite files.

  4. Create a Framework folder on the server (typically C:\Framework\)
This folder needs to be mapped to a drive letter (e.g., the W:\ drive will map to C:\Framework)

  5. Browse to: USB Drive.

  6. Right-click on the Framework folder and select Copy.

  7. Browse to the Framework folder on the server (Typically the C:\Framework\ drive). The following image is a typical example of the Framework folder.

  8. From the Folders pane (top arrow), right-click the C:\Framework\ folder (bottom arrow) and select Paste. The file copy will commence.

  9. Confirm that the Framework folder contains the correct folders. See Framework Folders.
The location of the copied Framework folder will be referred to in this guide as: [fw folder]

Step 4 - Configure Folder And File Permissions

The Framework Folders require different access permissions depending on the folder. Network permissions are rules associated with a shared resource on a network, such as a file, folder, or printer. These permissions can be assigned to groups, global groups, or individual users.

The following table displays the list of Framework folders and the network permissions required for each. These permissions are not exclusive, and additional Microsoft Windows permissions should be set accordingly. The table represents read and write permissions required by Framework ECM only.

The available Microsoft Windows folder security permissions include:

  • Full Control

  • Modify

  • Read & Execute

  • List Folder Contents

  • Read

  • Write

  • Special Permissions
