VPB Item Dialog
This dialog is used to display a Variation Price Book (VPB) standard item. A standard item is a single catalogue item that is available for inclusion in a VPB. A standard item can be provided with detailed information about the product, including descriptive information, price, and image.
A standard item could also be formatted as a Note Only and be included as a condition on a client document.
There are three tabs on the dialog and each has a separate function. All or some of the tabs may be applicable for a single item.

Table Item Dialog
This dialog is used to display a Variation Price Book (VPB) table item. A table item allows data to be arranged into rows and columns of cells and makes it easy for salespeople to select an item. In the case of VPB items, a table item is used to display the price between two variables.
Example
Let's say a builder has two house types:
- House Type A (single storey), and
- House Type B (double storey)
The builder only uses two types of bricks:
- Brick Type 1 (the cheapest brick), and
- Brick Type 2 (more expensive brick)
To build House Type A requires 10,000 bricks (indicated in the Quantity column) and to build House Type B requires 15,000 bricks (also indicated in theQuantity column). Brick Type 1 costs $500 per 1,000 bricks whilst Brick Type 2 costs $1,000 per 1,000 bricks. This information is presented in the following table:
House Type | Quantity | Brick Type 1 | Brick Type 2* |
---|---|---|---|
House Type A | 10 | Price of House Type A Using Brick Type 1 e.g. $5,000 | Price of House Type A Using Brick Type 2 e.g. $10,000 |
House Type B | 15 | Price of House Type B Using Brick Type 1 e.g. $7,500 | Price of House Type B Using Brick Type 2 e.g. $15,000 |
The column heading can be based on a standard item.

Image Tab
The Image tab is used to display a full size image against the item.
Important: BOQ links are ONLY displayed if information is integrated between Framework ECM and an external estimating system.
The Link BOQ tab is used to display the Bill Of Quantities (BOQ) links for a standard item.
A BOQ is also known in the housing industry as:
- Assembly
- Recipe
- Mini-bill
- Model
A BOQ is a document used in estimating in which costs for materials, parts, and labour are itemised to create the total cost for an item. Entering a BOQ link allows the exchange of information between Framework ECM and an external estimating system.
Example
A single wall oven may be connected to a BOQ that contains:
- Required materials (in this case, the wall oven itself, gas piping, etc.)
- Labour
- Delivery
Multiple BOQ links may be listed that show that a single item can be tied to multiple BOQs.
Example
A house may be connected to multiple BOQs such as:
- Bathroom BOQ
- Garage BOQ
- Kitchen BOQ, etc.
