TFS 13 introduced the ability to email clients and contacts directly from within TFS. The functionality detailed here relates to TFS 13 or higher.
When the email is displayed in the Context bar you can click on the email icon
The comment is made against the client.
You can see in the Action Taken the date and time that the email was sent and the status message to confirm that it was sent successfully.
