Overview

This article gives an overview of the processes used in the allocation/deallocation of QR Codes. All staff responsible for the installation of QR codes should familiarise themselves with this article.

Note

To be able to allocate QR Codes onsite, the person doing so must have the Resource Allocator contact role.

Setting Up Your App

The app will be recording your location. You should  check that your location services are turned on;

iOS

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.

  • Make sure that Location Services is on.

Android

  • Open your phone's Settings app.

  • Tap Security & location. ...

  • Tap Location.

  • Make sure Location is on.

The app will also require access to your camera to scan the QR codes and take photos. When you see the following requests you must select Allow.

Prior to a QR Code allocation site visit

Prior to visiting the site to place QR Code site signs, you should confirm with a platform administrator that the project is available on the platform (otherwise, you will not be able to allocate the QR Code to the project.)

When going to the site to place site signs, you should check that you have the necessary/correct QR Code signs and sufficient cable ties to secure them.

Placement of QR Code Site Signs

When placing the signs, you should ensure that;

  1. They are in a prominent position, as close to the point of site entry as possible.

  2. Their placement will not cause congestion or create safety issues with people trying to scan it.

  3. They are safely and easily accessible to everyone who will need to use them.

  4. They are visible at all times of normal site operation, and are not obscured by open gates, equipment, etc.


Note

THE SIGN SHOULD BE PLACED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FENCE SO THAT THE QR CODE IS NOT OBSCURED BY ANYTHING


Allocating a QR Code Site Sign

When you are on the site that you wish to allocate a QR Code, follow these steps using the Onsite Eye mobile application.

Unallocating a QR Code

QR Code site signs are reusable and should be unallocated from their current site when they are no longer needed on the site and are physically removed. They then become available again to allocate to a new site when ready.
