Workflow User Interface / Screen Design

Background

The Framework ECM software appliance delivers the majority of Framework's on-premise workflow solution.

User interfaces used to present and manage workflow are delivered in three different ways:

  • Single Job Grid (ie. all desired content (for a single job) on a screen/page is "flat" and presented in columns of labels and fields)
  • Single Job List (ie. all desired content (for a single job) is presented in a list with rows showing activities and their corresponding data in a small number of colums)
  • Multi-Job List (ie. all desired content (for multiple jobs) is presented with rows representing jobs, and many columns representing the content/data)

Multiple screens/pages can be designed and implemented to satisfy the needs of departments or individual staff/roles with a workflow process. They can be overview/summary screens, detailed, used for view-only purposes, or specifically for data entry purposes.

Designing Single Job Grid Screens

The following templates are used to mock-up the desired design of grid screens in Framework ECM.

Example Single Job Grid Screens

The following are just some examples of single job grid screens.

Example Multi-Job List Screen

The following is an example of a typical workflow tools screen, showing multiple jobs (as rows) with selected content (as columns).
