Client (Workstation) Installation - Quick Guide

The following guide can be used as an abridged version of our full install guide.

The full installation guide, inclusive of detailed steps, can be found under documentation on the Framework Mapped drive.

Step-by-step guide

 - Open file explorer, right click on 'This PC' and click map network drive

Map to the network location, which is \\server name\share name, this is most likely \\YOUR SERVER\Framework
E.g. \\Insula-SRV01\Framework

- Once mapped, open the drive and navigate to the setup folder, and then install the Insula Software Core Components (v16) and Framework ECM applications.

  • If any additional mini-apps are required, you may also install these now

- Then, navigate to the setup folder on the Framework mapped drive and install the Native Client Driver.

  • A typical location for this is Drive Letter:\Setup\Database - MSSQL\Microsoft - SQL Server Native Client Driver
  • If this is not available from this location, you can find a download for this on the official Microsoft website

- Open up start --> all programs --> insula software --> data sources (odbc) 32 Bit (64-Bit OS)
- Under the System DSN tab, click 'add', and follow the below guide to add your DSN connections, note: you only need to add FworkSQLEcm and FworkSQLLic at this stage, unless Sales Advice Management is also being installed.

ODBC DSN Configuration

  • Your SQL server and instance name will need to be provided by your IT resource
  • Authentication to the SQL server will be Integrated Windows authentication (usually) when on a domain, and SQL if not on a domain. If you are unsure, please get in contact with your IT resource, they will be able to provide the details for this
  • After adding the two core DSN's, you can test the connection, it should test successfully

After the FworkSQLEcm and FworkSQLLic DSN's are added, you can then try to run Framework, it should launch successfully.
