Crystal Reports Compatibility

On-Premise Framework Solutions

On-premise Framework software utilises the SAP Crystal Reports reporting solution (https://www.sap.com/australia/products/technology-platform/crystal-reports.html ).
Due to the Crystal Reports product's long history, and the number of Windows applications it is used within, it is not uncommon to see it present in many software solutions.

Crystal Reports File Version/Format Compatibility

Framework has standardised its reporting file format support on the version from Crystal Reports 2008.
This ensures maximum compatibility with other systems that may coexist on Windows machines running Framework applications.
Insula will continue to support the runtime components of on-premise Framework systems that produce these Crystal Reports.

Newer versions (ie. newer than 2008) of the Crystal Reports Designer software can be used to create and maintain Framework reports.
Please note that any new features in these newer versions will not be visible/compatible if the report is produced/run via the Framework software.
ie. only features supported by the Crystal 2008 file format can be viewed through Framework.

Crystal Reports Designer Compatibility

Insula has tested and confirmed that Crystal Reports 2016 (32bit) is compatible with Framework.
This version can be used to create and maintain Crystal Reports that are to be produced through Framework.

Reports Creation & Maintenance by Licensees

Licensees of Framework are welcome to create and maintain Crystal Reports used through Framework.
If this is desired, Insula recommends licensees purchase a perpetual license of a compatible version of the Crystal Reports Designer software for in-house use.

At the time of writing this article, the compatible Crystal Reports 2016 (32bit) was available for purchase directly from SAP (https://www.sap.com/australia/products/technology-platform/crystal-reports.html ).

Please Note:

  • At the time of writing this article, Insula’s testing found that Crystal Reports 2020 (64 bit) was not compatible.

  • Insula does not provide product support and/or training services for Crystal Reports.

Framework Cloud Solutions

Framework cloud systems employ different reporting solutions that are internal to the cloud software, and not related to Crystal Reports.
