Changing Screen Permissions

This article has been created to assist users in setting general screen permissions, as well as the content within those screens.

Overarching Screen Permissions

  • Navigate to the security module, using file → module, or clicking the Framework explorer icon

  • Once here, navigate to 'Permission' folder, and select the permission level you would like to adjust

Scenario:

"I would like to adjust the Drafting Staff/Manager group to allow users to make edits to the Administration Overview screen, and allow the Sales Staff to view this information"

  • Select your appropriate group, and navigate to Framework Applications → Enterprise Construction Management → Production Menu → Administration Menu
  • In this case, the permission #51 relates to the ability to access the screen, and #347 relates to making edits to the screen.
  • As a general rule, Yes to the overarching screen, but no to edit means they will only be able to view the screen, but not make edits. Conversely, yes to both means that they will be able to edit.
Note: selecting no to admin overview despite having the admin overview edit: yes permission will not allow users to access the screen.
  • The same process applies to the sales staff. Simply allow a 'yes' to administration overview, but ensure a 'no' for the editing of this screen.

It is important to note here that these should be done on a per-case basis. Please also be mindful that if you change the permissions for a group, all users within that group will be affected. The only way to override is to set user level permissions.

Screen Specific Content Access:

  • Within the permission (as previous) navigate to Framework Content → Field that you would like to edit

Scenario:

"I would like to stop users within the Sales Staff Group being able to add in an administration complete date, but still want them to be able to edit the screen"

  • In this case, you can perform the previous steps of allowing users to edit the screen, but now we can pinpoint specific parts of the screen we may not want users to access.
  • To complete this, navigate to the administration content group, then alter the 'edit in any way' to no, there are alternatives to this, i.e. no forward dating, back dating. This is at your discretion.
  • This change should be in place once users log in/out of the system
