Return to Getting Started

The following topics detail some basic tasks and functions in Framework ECM.

Active And Inactive Items

Items are never physically removed from Framework ECM. When a list item is deleted, the status of the item changes from Active to Inactive. These items remain within Framework ECM to ensure that historical data is handled correctly. Additionally, an inactive list item may be quickly re-assigned to a list, where required, by changing the Inactive? status from Yes to No.

Refreshing Data

Any on-screen data can be refreshed to update the fields with the current information. Each time the data is refreshed, the most recent version of the information is displayed.

Data is automatically refreshed when moving between Edit mode and View mode or when a new screen is opened.

To Refresh the contents of the current screen;

From the toolbar, select

Press F5

To Refresh all data relating to the currently selected job.

Press Shift + F5

Resizing Dialogs

Some dialogs can be resized by dragging the borders or corners of a dialog. This functionality allows the dialog to be made smaller or larger to improve readability.

Resizing List Columns

Any list screen can have their column widths resized. This provides the ability to lengthen or shorten a list as required, enabling users to view more groups or more items as required.

To do this, hover the mouse between the columns and expand or contract.

Row Height Buttons

The row size in a list can be increased or decreased by clicking  or  in the toolbar.

Set Primary

The Set Primary function allows a list item to be set as the primary item in a list. Thebutton is located in the toolbar but may also be located in the toolbar area of a dialog.

Example

A job may contain two contacts, a husband and wife. One of these contacts can be set as the primary contact. In this instance, the primary contact would be the first person contacted for any communication.

The spelling checker can only be used in Edit mode.
