Latest Version Files Folder

The UNC Path to the location where the Latest Version of each file is located (this location should have read only access to Users and Full Access for the Alimirah Service User account)

\\Servername.local\Sharename\Project Number\[Folder Structure].....

Version Control File Folder

This location can be located on low cost storage

The UNC Path to the location where the All Previous Versions of each file are located (this location should have NO access for Users and Full Access for the Alimirah Service User account)

\\Servername.local\Sharename\....


File and Folder Permissions

On NTFS volumes, you need to set security permissions on the folders. These permissions grant or deny access to the files and folders.

Setting File and Folder Permissions – Latest Version Files Folder

To set permissions for files and folders, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the file or folder you want to work with.

  2. From the pop-up menu, select Properties, and then in the Properties dialog box click the Security tab, shown in Figure 1.

  3. Users or groups that already have access to the file or folder are listed in the Name list box. You can change permissions for these users and groups by doing the following:

    • Select the user or group you want to change.

    • Use the Permissions list box to grant or deny access permissions.

Tip Inherited permissions are shaded. If you want to override an inherited permission, select the opposite permission.

Document Check Out

This is a 'scratch pad' location. 

Users should have Full Read-Write Access.

The DMS Service account to have Full Access. 

Framework.Support and Framework.Support2 account to have Full Access for fault finding. 

Supervisor Files

Supervisors should have Full Read-Write Access. 

Users should have Read-Only Access. 

The DMS Service account to have Full Access.  

Framework.Support and Framework.Support2 account to have Full Access for fault finding.
