Depending on the type of report that is required, TFS can modify current reports to enable brokers to view more specific data on a report. This is done via the Report Overview screen and using the Standard Criteria dialog.

Modifying a report's criteria will ensure that the report's results will display only the required information. Any report criteria added using the Standard Criteria dialog will be validated to ensure that the referenced table, field, or formula names are valid for the specified report file.

The Standard Criteria Dialog

The Standard Criteria dialog is used primarily to limit the number of records included in the report, but also to provide the ability to select the criteria that is relevant. These criteria selection methods control the type of information that will be displayed in the results. Criteria selection also allows the same report to be run to see different views of the data.

The Standard Criteria dialog can be used to focus a 'big picture' report on a particular area of the business such as a specific broker or a financier.

Tip

Modifications to the report do not have to made. If the default selections are to be used, simply click the OK button on the Standard Criteria dialog.

The Standard Criteria dialog contains three buttons along the bottom of the dialog:

  • Save: Saves the modified report
  • OK: Previews or prints the report.
  • Cancel: Cancels the process.

Note

Saved reports are located in the Reports tab. To differentiate between default TFS reports and customised reports, customised reports will have a positive report number (see the # column).

Tip

To delete a report, select a report from Reports list and click the Delete Item toolbar icon.

Preview Versus Printing a Preview

Most reports can be either previewed before printing or directly printed. The only exception is a report that is selected for multi print. In this case, the Print button must be clicked to gain access to the Multi Print tab on the Standard Criteria dialog.

The print preview shows the report exactly as it will look when printed. It provides the opportunity to make changes to the report criteria (by rerunning it).

To Preview or Print a Report Using the Standard Criteria Dialog

  1. Open the Report Overview screen.
  2. From the Category drop-list, select the required report category.
  3. From either the Reports or Templates tab, select the required report from the list.
  4. Click the Preview button to preview a report before printing.
    OR
Click the Print button to print without previewing the report.

The Standard Criteria dialog contains a number of tabs. The following topics will describe these tabs in details followed by a detailed example.
