Insula Software provides clients with a blank Framework Logistics Tablet database. To keep your Framework Logistics Tablet database up-to-date, the blank database must be upgraded. This upgraded database will become the company wide Framework Logistics Tablet blank database.

Copy - Blank Database To Computer System

1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Browse to: [fw folder]\Service\01- Default Data\

3. Copy the blank database file.

Restore Database - Framework Logistics Tablet

1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > SQL Server Management Studio).
2. Connect to the required server.
3. Right-click on Databases and click Restore Database.... The Restore Database dialog will be displayed.

4. In the To Databases field, enter the Framework Logistics Tablet blank database name.

5. In the From Device field, click the Browse button. The Specify Backup dialog will be displayed.
6. Click the Add button. The Locate Backup File dialog will be displayed.

7. Browse to the folder location of the backup file.

8. Select the backup file.

9. Click the OK button. The Locate Backup File dialog will close.

11. In the Restore column, tick the backup to be restored.

13. In the Restore the database file as list, click the Browse button for the Framework Logistics Tablet database (e.g., FworkSQLCstLTablet). The Locate Database Files dialog will be displayed.

14. Select the folder location where the database will be restored to.

22. Close Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

2. Select the System DSN tab.
3. Click the Add button. The Create New Data Source dialog will be displayed.
4. Select SQL Server Native Client XX.0.
5. Click the Finish button. The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server dialog will be displayed.
6. Enter the following details: 
   • Name: FworkSQLCstLTablet_Blank
   • Description (optional): Enter a description for the database connection. For example, Framework Logistics Tablet Blank Database.
   • Server: Select the SQL server from the Server drop-down list.
     OR
     Enter the SQL Server name.
7. Click the Next button.
8. Click the Next button.
9. Tick: Change the default database to

10. From the drop-down list select the required database.

12. Click the Finish button. The ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup dialog will be displayed.
13. Click the Test Data Source... button.
14. If successful, click the OK button.
15. Click the OK button. The ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup dialog will close.
16. Click the OK button. The Data Sources (ODBC) Administrator dialog will close.

The following procedure upgrades the Framework Logistics Tablet blank database.

If during the upgrade process 'Not Responding' appears in the title bar of the Framework Logistics Tablet Upgrade software, this is due to the system performing very long and CPU-intensive calculations. This message will disappear once the upgrade has been completed

The Framework Logistics Tablet database upgrade can be performed either manually or silently. The manual upgrade option requires user intervention and selections whilst the silent upgrade option, which uses a command line switch, requires no user intervention and is therefore useful for group policy rollouts across multiple computer systems. Both manual and silent installation options are included.

1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Browse to: \[fw folder]\Upgrade\Upgrade7_0_0_[xx]\ECM\
3. Double-click the FworkCstLTabletUpgrade.exe file. The Upgrade Tablet Database prompt will appear.

4. Click the Yes button. The database upgrade will be performed.

   The first step in the upgrade procedure will take a backup of the upgraded tables and store the tables in a Microsoft Access database file (backup.mdb). This will be stored under a time-stamped folder indicating the date and time of the upgrade. For example, Backup 20100404_105719. This folder can be deleted once the upgrade has been completed

5. If the upgrade was successful you will receive a successfully completed message.
6. Click the OK button.
7. Click the Close button.

3. In the Object Explorer pane, expand: [server name] > Databases
4. Right-click on the Framework Logistics Tablet database (e.g., FworkSQLCstLTablet) and select Tasks > Back Up. The Back Up Database (General Page)dialog will be displayed.

5. Specify a Name and Destination for the backup file, if different from the default name and destination details.

6. Select the Options page.
7. Tick: Overwrite all existing backup sets
8. Tick: Verify backup when finished
9. Click the OK button. The backup will be performed to the selected destination.
10. Click the OK button to close the message prompt.
11. Close SQL Server Management Studio.
12. Browse to the backup location (as detailed in Point 5 above).
13. Copy the backup file to a secure location.
